{Anchor/Warum nachhaltig?} Nachhaltigkeit als kreativer Impuls: Wie Fivekit die Zukunft der Eventbranche prägt

The event and communications industry is facing radical change. In a world where experiences are becoming increasingly intense, one crucial question arises: How can enthusiasm and responsibility be combined?

At fivekit, the answer is clear: we design experiences, content, and events that inspire people and at the same time have a positive impact on the world of tomorrow. For us, sustainability is not just a buzzword, but the core of our creative DNA. Our vision is to be an agency that is not only creative, but also a role model for sustainable business, social responsibility, and future-oriented thinking.

The key lies in combining innovation and mindfulness. We consistently focus on regenerative processes, innovative technologies, and circular economy. Our creativity uses resources consciously and protects the environment without losing any emotional impact. The goal is ambitious and measurable: by 2040, we will be completely climate-neutral and resource-efficient. For us, this is not about sacrifice, but about intelligent solutions. Whether through the use of modular system constructions, digital twins to avoid travel, or local value chains, we create tangible sustainability in every detail and demonstrate that "green events" are the highest form of modern live communication.

But true sustainability goes beyond the ecological footprint. We promote diversity, equal opportunities, and transparency in all our projects and partnerships. For us, a fair, inclusive society is the basis for true innovation. By exemplifying these values, we inspire our customers to act responsibly. A project by fivekit is therefore always a statement for a better world: digitally connected, human-centered, and ecologically consistent. We prove that those who act sustainably today will secure their relevance tomorrow.

More than just a trend: Why sustainability is systematic at fivekit

At fivekit, we don't see sustainability as an optional extra, but as a fundamental quality feature. As a Berlin-based creative agency and production house, our vision is to be a role model for sustainable business and social responsibility. To this end, we use our creativity to make conscious use of resources, protect the environment, and promote an inclusive society.

Strategic anchoring instead of superficial accents

Our actions are based on a sound sustainability strategy that inextricably links economic, ecological, and social goals. In our materiality matrix, we prioritize issues such as the development of sustainable products, responsible travel management, and the consistent reduction of CO2 emissions. We are committed to renewable processes and the circular economy in order to be completely climate-neutral by 2040. For our customers, this means that we consider the sustainable orientation of the supply chain and the efficient use of resources right from the initial design stage.

Social commitment and values in practice

For us, sustainability also means social sustainability. As signatories to the Diversity Charter, we take a clear stand against any ideology that threatens our democracy. We promote diversity and equal opportunities in all our projects and are actively involved in initiatives such as:

  • C_SR: As a founding member, we volunteer our support to NPOs and NGOs, such as HateAid in 2024.

  • Global Goals e.V.: We support the achievement of the 17 SDGs in Berlin and promote projects such as "17 Pianos in 17 Places" through graphics and film.
  • SME Climate Hub: Since 2024, we have been officially committed to climate goals for small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Sustainable Berlin: At the end of 2025, after a year-long process, we successfully completed our audit with Sustainable Berlin and were awarded a certificate as a high performer.

Our work creates tangible sustainability in every detail. From promoting renewable energies and alternative mobility concepts to ensuring anti-discrimination and ethics in everyday working life. We inspire our customers and the industry to take action that will last beyond the moment. A project with fivekit is therefore always a promise for a responsible future.

Working together for a green metropolis: Our role in "Sustainable Berlin"

Sustainability is not a solo project, but a joint effort. That is why fivekit is a proud member of Sustainable Berlin, visitBerlin's central sustainability initiative. Its goal is to make the German capital one of the most sustainable destinations worldwide and to make the event industry fit for the future.

This initiative is essential for Berlin-based companies for three reasons:

  1. Regional impact: It brings together players in the local visitor economy and creates a strong network for best practices.
  2. Future viability: The program helps companies respond resiliently to regulatory requirements (such as CSR reporting obligations) and reduce operating costs through efficiency.
  3. Competitive advantage: Independent certification is often a prerequisite for tenders today and strengthens the trust of customers and partners.

The path to certification: a process of depth

The Sustainable Berlin audit process was demanding and process-oriented. It is based on 65 criteria that are internationally recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). In a comprehensive procedure, we were audited in four key areas: governance, risk & compliance, economy, environment, and society.

Our success in 2025: Fivekit is a "High Performer" We are pleased to announce that fivekit passed the audit in 2025 with flying colors. We have been officially certified with "High Performer" status. This level is awarded to companies that have already achieved a very high level of sustainability performance and go far beyond the basic criteria.

For us, this seal is not a finish line, but a promise: we will continue to work on combining innovation and responsibility in such a way that every fivekit project leaves a positive mark on our city.

Theory meets practice: two cases that set standards

At fivekit, sustainability is not an abstract concept, but is evident where it counts: in implementation. Two projects illustrate how we combine ecological responsibility and high-end design.

1. Circular Stand Design: mobile.de & classified ads at DMEXCO

For the joint appearance of mobile.de and kleinanzeigen, we revolutionized the concept of the classic trade fair booth. Instead of disposable constructions, we opted for an architecture made of reusable overseas containers.

  • Resource conservation: All components, from the walls to the floor coverings, were designed so that they would not end up as waste after the trade fair, but could be stored in modular form and reused.
  • Waste prevention: By avoiding conventional trade fair construction materials, which often only exist for a few days, we significantly reduce our ecological footprint without compromising on aesthetics.

2. PayPal's "Beyond Roadshow" (2025 & 2026)

Unfortunately, single-use branding is still often the norm in the event industry. With the PayPal Beyond Roadshow, we proved in 2025 that there is another way. Our concept for three cities is based consistently on reuse and upcycling:

  • Modularity: Branding elements, backdrops, and technical structures were produced in such a way that they could be seamlessly reused in any city.
  • Green logistics: We rely on transport by rail or specialized couriers, as well as renting real plants instead of disposable decorations.
  • Social upcycling: For banners and prints that no longer have a direct use, we have established a partnership with inclusive workshops. There, people with disabilities use the old materials to make high-quality bags and accessories. In this way, we not only promote the circular economy, but also create social participation and creative jobs.

Sustainability as an economic factor: The price structure

A widespread myth is that sustainable practices are unaffordable. At fivekit, we prove the opposite. We don't list sustainability as an "expensive extra" or a separate item, but offer it directly as our standard.

Why sustainability is also financially beneficial for companies:

  • Long-term savings: Durch die Wiederverwendung von Bauten und Branding-Elementen bei Folgeprojekten sinken die Produktionskosten für kommende Events signifikant.
  • Efficiency instead of waste: Intelligent resource management reduces disposal costs and optimizes logistics.
  • Transparent calculation: The additional cost of ecological materials is often only minimal and is usually amortized by the longevity of the modules after just two uses.

Our goal is to offer solutions that not only save money, but also position our customers' brands as responsible players.

{Anchor/Conclusion}

Conclusion

At fivekit, sustainability is not a goal that you achieve once and then tick off your list; it is an ongoing process of innovation. Our journey from our strategic foundation to certification as a High Performer 2025 to groundbreaking projects such as the container stand for mobile.de or the circular PayPal roadshow shows that ecological and social responsibility are not obstacles to creativity, but rather its strongest accelerators.

Every day, we prove that modern events can be resource-efficient, inclusive, and economically viable at the same time. By integrating sustainable options directly into our DNA instead of declaring them as expensive add-ons, we make future-proof action the standard for our customers.

The event industry of tomorrow will be more digital, more connected, and more transparent, and fivekit is leading the way as a Berlin pioneer. Together with strong partners such as Sustainable Berlin and our network, we create experiences that not only leave a lasting impression, but also leave a positive footprint.
